On The Road Again

Fall is a beautiful time to get out of Texas, especially if you want to see some pretty Fall colors, and that is exactly what we have done.

We are headed east this week to visit our daughter Stacy and family who live in North Carolina. We took the northern route since we were also going to deliver some items left in Colorado by friends who winter in Tennessee.

Donna and Ed live just west of Knoxville, Tennessee .
Their beautiful home is on the banks of the Tennessee River with breathtaking views.
We were delighted when they suggested we go for a ride on their boat. The weather was perfect, although our  hosts were a bit disappointed that the leaves hadn’t quite turned yet...this boat ride on the Tennessee was certainly going to make up for it!

Donna even suggested that Ed navigate under the bridge into what she called the black lagoon. It was just a curving inlet with low hanging trees that had an eerie quietness about it.

The Tennessee River starts just east of Knoxville and flows southwest toward Alabama before it heads back north up into the state of Kentucky with a series of dams and locks along the way forming lake after lake.

I put an x in the approximate area where they live on the river. I was surprised when Donna told us that she and Ed at one time had taken their boat downriver all the way to Alabama and back stopping along the way at marinas so they come trek into town and stay at hotels along the way. That sounds like such a fun adventure to me! We had a great visit and they were such gracious hosts, feeding us a delicious dinner and breakfast before we headed on down the road.....Thank you Donna and Ed!
More to come.....maybe even some Fall leaves, so stay tuned.

  1. A nice outing. We can't do anything at the moment than staying at home. Another lockdown has ordered here...

They appreciated you home delivering to them and showed that graciously to you both.
What a perfect break from the long ride ahead.

  3. That sounds like a wonderful visit. I grew up on the Mississippi River and I always thought it would be fun to take a boat all the way to the gulf. Enjoy your trip. I'm a bit jealous. I'm longing for a good road trip.

  5. Gosh your friends do have really good views of the river Janey, it reminds me of my friends apartment that has gardens that lead down to the Swan River. It seems so weird to me seeing everyone in masks, probably as strange as it is for you to see noone in my pics wearing them 😉 We are so lucky here in WA ✨
