A Walk Into Spring

I have not been faithful to my daily walk this winter....and I can't even give you a good excuse. Yesterday guilt was getting the better of me, so I put on my sneakers and headed out.
I didn't realize I would be walking into Spring!
You really notice things better on foot.
Flowers, blooming bushes and trees were everywhere,
and in a wide range of colors.
We had a very mild winter....but I am wondering if it is really over?
I am always hesitate to plant flowers this early.
Have things started blooming where you are?
Maybe you too should go for a walk. You could possibly run into Spring!

The Luncheon

This past week a friend invited me to the Design Inspirations luncheon at one of the Country Clubs. It is an annual event held by two sororities. There were sixty eight tables in all. Each sponsored by didn't organizations and decorated to the hilt! I will post just a few that caught my eye.
Like I said, there were many  many more tables. I didn't have time to photograph anymore of them before the speaker started and a delicious lunch was served. The whole day was a feast for the eyes. My favorite table was the last one. The gold one with the lamp in the center. Which is yours?
The money raised went to two children's charities

More Tubac Fun

My last few posts have been about our recent short trip to Tubac, Arizona,
and as I mentioned in the first post, we went out to play golf. They have a great golf resort that has three nine hole courses. Many of the structures on the resort are original buildings that were on the very old Otero Ranch which in it's day, was the largest cattle ranch in Arizona. Parts of it were purchased in 1959 by a familiar name, Bing Crosby, who built the golf resort and spa.
Since the course is in the desert, it is a mixture of dry grasses and irrigated fairways and greens, all surrounded by beautiful mountain vistas.
Some of the descendants of the original herd seem to be still there too. It is open range, which means our golf cart passed over several cattle guards....and you might just find a bull on the tee box!
What's is a vacation without some great food?. Our hosts, Ceil and Mort cooked a couple of delicious dinners, and also introduced us to the little Italian Restaurant full of atmosphere and  mountain views of course.
Those that know my Tom know that his favorite meal is pizza.

I also mentioned that there were several of our Colorado  neighbors who winter in this
area. So, Ceil being the perfect hostess, arranged for everyone to meet halfway up the mountain for wine and cheese.
Again there were views in every direction.

It was a bit breezy that afternoon, but it was great to see everyone.
We then headed to the bottom of the mountain, to yet another great restaurant "Fire fly" where we all dined in front of the fireplace.
It is always sad when such a fun trip comes to an end. So, before we headed to the airport, we went back to the golf resort for one more meal together at the Stables
The first dining room is most inviting, but everyone wants to see outside at breakfast,

so we sat in the next room, which has the arched windows of the old stable stalls.
Gosh, we had a nice time, and are now back home where the weather is damp and cold and yes, I am missing Arizona!

The Sculpture Garden

If you are in Tubac, AZ you can't miss the K Newby Gallery. It is filled with amazing art.
If you don't have time to stop in, at least walk through their sculpture garden.
I think the majority of the sculptures are done by one artist. Gary Lee Price who hails from Utah, although his masterpieces are all over the world, with several in the Hong Kong Central Library. To read more about Gary L. Price go :HERE The following are the ones I had time to capture:
The last picture is from our previous trip four years ago. Price also did this piece and I hear that it sold. I couldn't help but join in with this game of Ring Around The Rosie on this unusually frosty morning. As I remember, the song goes likes this "Ring around the rosie, pocket full of posies, ashes ashes ,we all fall down."

A Few Photos from Tubac

Here are just a few of my favorite pictures that I took on our recent short trip to Tubac, Arizona
A map of the village. As you can see it is very small and you really can't get lost.
You feel a bit like you are in Mexico, but this is Arizona.

There are all types of architecture. This place caught my eye
 as did it's door.
There is a whole array of unusual things to buy,
although watch your step.
I especially liked the colorful pottery
There were even metal plants

and some pretty amazing real ones.

Have you ever seen a lavender cactus?

St. Anne's Catholic church...looking of bit more alpine in construction than Spanish.
It's foundation laid in 1767.. The present church was finished in 1929
A pretty house on the golf course

Everywhere you turn there are spectacular views ..

So if you ever get to Tubac, don't forget your camera.
Come back again, and I will show you the local sculpture garden
