Marmot

We have many furry little Marmots in the San Juan Mtns. The miner's of the nineteenth century called them whistle pigs...because they make a whistling sound and tasted like pork!

  1. We have a little book of 100 animals for the grandchildren and they were the first of their friends to be able to identify a marmot! (I had to look it up to know more than the name)... You didn't eat this little guy did you?
