The Art Show

One of my blogging friends suggested I take art lessons....when I mentioned on a previous post that I would like to paint something if I knew how. Well, about ten years ago I tried taking a few lessons and got very discouraged. So here folks are the few attempts that only span about a years time. :(
My first attempt at a watercolor
attempt #2 Two small Colorado pine trees
#3 My instructor told me I needed to loosen up and not be so exact. So I did. Actually, I don't remember her exact instructions...but I got the message.
#4 My loosened up attempt at a sunset across a snowy field.
#5 This is when I lost my confidence. I did not know how to do trees.
Oh, the next year when I had my cousins here, I did this painting. We did a different activity each day. My sister had traced the outline of a local bird (a Steller Jay), and we all painted it. Not looking for any compliments here (or criticism) :) Just thought I would show you that I will just about attempt anything....Janey

  1. I think they're fabulous Janey, if you read my blog often you must know that I admire the creative process very much. I particularly like your first and fourth paintings here, you should definitely keep it going!

  2. I, too, was taking drawing lessons when my instructor told me to loosen up. It was hard! I did not much like the results but then I did not stay with it to see where it could go. And, Jane, watercolor is the most difficult medium in my opinion, so kudos to you for just getting in there and doing it!

  3. One of my fantasies.. . . to become another Grandma Moses or female Monet. Actually any style would please me.

  5. Dearest Janey,
Love the first two you did; that is my personal view as I like the more realistic paintings much better.

  8. I think you did a great job. Your paintings are pretty. If it's something you enjoy, don't let a small thing like being exact hold you back. The more you paint the better you get, and the more you enjoy it. Talk soon!

  9. It's that landscape one that does draw me, but I've always been partial to mountains.

My artistic skills are rather limited, though I was okay with pencil sketches of landscapes.
