Beautiful Weather and the Waterfall

Some days you simply must get out of the house, especially when the weather is perfect. Mild temperature, low humidity, gentle breeze and sunshine.

I had heard about this waterfall that was only like 15min. from our  house and figured this was the day to go find it. It is along the Trinity Trails, a trail system that snakes all through Ft. Worth following the Trinity River.

There is a park area at the entrance of the falls that runs along a joint services military base. The base at one time was an air force base and the commanders residence sat at the entrance of where the park is now..The first thing you see is a large sculpture. Seems it is the tail and the wings of an aircraft. Part of the present day base is also an aircraft plant.(Lockheed Martin).

There is a pretty bridge and directions on how to walk to the falls.

It is a shaded and paved pathway meandering along flower beds

with benches here and there on the half mile walk,

and a few flowers, although I feel sure is it much more lush in the Spring.

There were several of these large bushes with the pretty purple berries, but sorry I don’t know what they are.

We were a bit disappointed when we arrived at the falls to find that there was no water falling, but I should have known since we are in dire need of rain. It was a wonderful place to walk so we were pleased with our outing after all. Obviously that first picture wasn’t mine! I hope you all are finding ways to keep busy and that you are all well...Janey

  1. Dearest Janey,
Wow, that first picture would promise to be in for quite a sight but without water, that will not happen...
That Callicarpa or Beauty Berry was an added bonus picture.
We've arrived in the mountains, only 4.5 hrs driving from home. We will make the Smoky Mountains Rail Road trip tomorrow... Had to shop as the hotel does not serve any breakfast, neither coffee during COVID-19. On their website they did! But we shopped and got all we needed, with our fridge in the room that works fine.
Restaurants are open, so that was nice.
Tourism has been badly hurt this year; we both feel for those having to make a living that way!
    Hugs,
    Mariette
