The Get Away

As I mentioned in the previous post, Tom and I got away for an overnight in Colorado Springs.
We drove north out of Lake City almost an hour before we turned east on hwy. 50 and went over Monarch Pass, where this picture was taken.
A couple of hours into the trip you enter a desert.....27 miles of nothing, before you get to the next mountain range, but keep your eyes open, there are wild antelope grazing out there.Sorry about the awful photo.
We arrived at our B and B  two hours before the stated check in time, and we were very happy our room was ready.
The home looked very much like it should on the inside, everything was authentic 19th century.
Our room was on the front of the house, and had a lot of windows.
Tom and I just couldn't wait to prop our feet up on the lovely front porch.
The dining room, where we had breakfast, had four tables that seated four each, and there was a side porch with tables.
Breakfast was hearty and delicious. The coffee was all ready in the morning, all I had to do was turn it on. So, when I got up very early (I tend to do that), I was able to enjoy a cup of coffee while I sat in the parlor and read.
Wait! what did we do in the evening...while in town?. Well, it was very special. I will show pictures tomorrow.

  1. The pictures of the B&B look like the place my mama and daddy stayed in, years ago. It looks like a lovely place for an overnight stay. I believe I would have headed straight for that porch, too!
