I went to a wedding shower for my niece today. We have three weddings this year in my family. Sara is marrying into an Irish family so they gave her a wedding shower on St. Patrick's Day. We were all asked to wear green. I took a picture of these leprechaun cookies (made by the hostess) as they were being passed.
At the entrance of the house was an enormous tree, just a few feet from the door. I couldn't help but inquire about it. It is a cottonwood tree (non cotton producing) and is officially the tallest cottonwood in Ft. Worth.
I hope that you had a nice weekend. Did you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?
That is a huge tree I don't know. Have never seen one. St. Patricks Day is unknown here, but we have plans to go to Ireland this year.
ReplyDeleteTypically I do not like these trees. The ones that shed make a mess. It actually looks like snow falling. There are a lot of them in our Colorado town.
DeleteA lovely theme for a shower and the cookies added to the event. Yes, we sorta celebrated. There is a local pub on Sullivan't Island that traditionally helps revelers celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It was a two-day event with the streets blocked off to traffic with food and beer vendors outside and the bar open inside. Jim took our dog for a walk in the opposite direction while I photographed some of the celebrants. Fun people. Then I rejoined Jim to walk the beach, where the atmosphere was decidedly calmer.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a festive day. I bet you will share some of those pics with us?
DeleteI like the cottonwood tree. I assume it is a male tree since it has no cotton? We celebrated the Day at my mother-in-law's house. It was her 90th birthday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I knew that the tree was one or the other. So it t is the female that sheds...I will try and remember.
DeleteHappy birthday to your mother in law. That is a big one!
