I forgot to mention another thing I like about river cruises. The fact that a local tour is included at each stop; could be on foot, by bus or even boat, and believe it or not ...we were even met by a tiny train once. But, outside of Strasbourg, we were offered an excursion (that you could pay extra for). There was a choice of a trip to a winery or one into the Black Forest ...which is the one we chose. First stop was the above cuckoo shop where we tasted a local wine and were served a delicious Black Forest Cherry cake that was sprayed with brandy.
As you can see my husband Tom had fun trying on various hats from the gift shop. This stop was a bit too touristy for me, but I really enjoyed the rest of the trip that day. Come back tomorrow, and I will show you pictures of Vogtsbauerhof... an Open Air Museum giving you insight into rural life in the region back in the 16th through 18th centuries.
I bet he found the hat so irresistible that he bought it and is wearing it at home now, right?! Your trip is getting more and more enticing.
ReplyDeleteThe shop looks very funny, it is a real cuckoo shop! Tom looks adorable with his the hair braids
ReplyDeleteDoes Tom know you posted this picture? He is probably sorry now that he tried on that hat and posed for a picture! I like it when the "kid" comes out in him and he relaxes
