Yes, I know Halloween is over. I just wanted to show you the orange t-shirt that I wore to the gym on Halloween morning. It is a shirt that I stamped black cats on, well over twenty years ago when my girls were small.. My fellow workout buddies couldn't believe I still had it. Which led to a discussion of things we keep....Not exactly solving the world's problems...our conversations...but they are always lively.
I commented that I always saved anything that could be used as a costume (never know when I may have to outfit Tom). I told them I still had my *work shirt that I painted in 1975. It was a fad around here (Houston) to sew lace on a work shirt and paint it. The girls from up north (nice way to say Yankee) had no idea what we were talking about. I owned a beach house at the time...so naturally I painted a beach scene on my shirt.
Hello:
ReplyDeleteWe love these shirts - such great fun and highly imaginative too!
You are very creative and I can imagine you kept it so long. I have knitted a lot and some "masterpieces" I have put in a suitcase in the attic. When you had so much efforts to make something you just don't throw it away. My Stef still wears these shirts although he doesn't work in it...
ReplyDeleteI have a closet full of t-shirts, shirts, and blouses I used to wear for holidays and special occasions when I was teaching high school. Even "the big kids" enjoy dressing up and loved it when the teachers joined them. l I even had an Edvard Munch's Howl for test and exam days.
ReplyDeletei have never seen the lace-trimmed, painted work shirt thing, either. of course, i'm a northerner. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I would keep these fun shirts too! You took the time to make them and they have aged pretty well. They bring back memories every time you look at them. What's not to like? :-) I believe my favorite one is the "Beach shirt." Thank you for stopping by today! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteI wore that beach shirt as a Halloween costume once :)
ReplyDeleteI used to paint shirts with a technique that looked like cross-stitch from far away...did that in the early 90's. I did several for my mom, and she still wears them today. We had to beg her to throw away one tshirt in particular because she had it on every time we went over there. She kept the denim shirts I painted wears them to church still. Nice to find another person who kept those things...by the way, yours are so cute...I would actually like to find them again in an arts and craft sale. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I have lived in the heart of Texas all my 57 years. :)
