The Moon

Twenty seven years ago my family discovered a tiny town in the Colorado mountains, where life  slows down, and the summer temperatures are downright pleasant. We liked it so much that we vacationed there for a week, every summer, and eventually built a vacation home. The only problem..... it was a very long drive from south Texas. Our girls were small, and they use to get very bored with the  long car journey. Along about Amarillo, Texas, their patience usually gave out.. Tom knew a short cut out of Amarillo, heading into the dusty Texas panhandle, and eager for the journey to be over, we always took it. It is a little two lane road that had you rolling through a stark landscape...very similar to  what the moon would look like (craters and all). On one trip Tom turned his baseball cap sideways...and the girls ask him what he was doing? He replied "if you are on the moon, you have to put on your moon hat." So, for years we always turned our hats sideways, when we finally arrived on "the moon"!

To make a long story short, I snapped this picture today with my cell phone and emailed it to our girls, who took one look and knew exactly where we were!

Yes, we are on the road (or the moon) finally headed back to Colorado. All of the boxes are unpacked and things have been put away! Yeah! Life can get back to normal, and I can visit your blogs again! Janey
