The Consignment Shop

I don't know if you have ever been to a furniture consignment shop? I enjoy going on a regular basis. It is a shop where people sell their furnishing they no longer want. The shop takes 50% of the sale. I find it is a great place to pick up vintage pieces of furniture. Tom and I have been in the market for a consul table to go in our master bedroom, under the television.
We found this one at such a shop today....and thought it was not only perfect but a great price.

It is really rather simple, but has some nice craved wood design on the front.

What really sold me was the top. Our house is French in style and the top of this table reminded me of the parquet floors that so many of the flats we have rented, in Paris had.

The color of the wood is very similar to the wood pieces we have in the bedroom
and the top of the table also compliments the inlaid flower design on the bedside tables.
Now I have to figure out what to put on top. A silk flower arrangement, a vase,  books, maybe a small lamp....or I could cover it with framed family photos. Stay tuned.

  1. A very nice table. So fun to find something old after some time looking for it. It suits very well and I like the top very much.

  2. You pay careful attention to your furnishing. The table is a good choice for the rest of the surroundings.

  3. oh, my! look at the details in that fine table! great job!

  4. The consul table is beautiful! Lovely find!

  5. Gosh what a beautiful consul table Janey, looks like it was made for this position.. I think beautifully framed family photos would look fabulous here.
P.s. Have you decided which course to study yet ?
