Weather is perfect today seventy degrees and sunny. Took a beautiful drive and spotted a female moose near the Oleo Ranch (also known as the poor man's spread).

A favorite spot in downtown Lake City, Colorado. Back in the day this was a drugstore but today it is where we all go for an ice cream cone or a delicious shake. You can sit on a hundred year old bar stool at the soda fountain....as Martha would say "it's a good thing"

Bears

Saw a Mom and two cute cinnamon bears near town today. The Mom was huge...maybe 400 lbs. The cubs were having too much fun to notice us!

Downtown

Looking much like it did back in the 1870's the little downtown of Lake City, Colorado
is lovingly cared for today. The population swelled in the late 1800's with the signing of the treaty with the Ute Indians....Miner's and their families quickly took the population to several thousand. Today's year round folks only number around 400 but part timer's as the summer folks are called....bring that number up considerably.

Lake City's lake is three miles south of town. Lake San Cristobal (9003 ft) located in the San Juan mtn range of Southwestern Colorado. Formed hundreds of years ago by the Slumgullion slide.

We're Here

Arrived in Lake City, Colorado for the summer...but it still looks like winter! We are enjoying the snow, especially coming out of the hot weather in Texas. Have a roaring fire going this morning....I will attempt to take some interesting photos of this beautiful area.
