The Bowl

This rather large pottery bowl sits in the living room of our friend's home with artificial pears in it. Jenna actually bought this in a little mountain town in Colorado. Her husband reminded her that they had arrived by plane and there was NO WAY to take it home. The little town was very small and it was not the type of store that would ship things to you. She wanted it desperately and asked if I could bring it to her when we drove back to Texas at the end of the summer? Well, the end of the summer for us that year wasn't until October...but deliver it we did....I smile every time I see it in her Houston home.

The Backyard

We stayed with dear friends in Houston this week. Jenna and Phil have such a pretty backyard.
It's a place where you just want to sit and relax. Unfortunately, the weather  was stormy...and turned cool while we were there.

The Ice Pack

Hello, sorry about yesterday!

Okay, why am I featuring bags of frozen green peas? Just wanted to pass along a little tip. Our dentist advises that a bag of frozen peas, makes a great ice pack...You take one, wrap it in a thin cup towel and apply it to your swollen face. When it thaws out throw it in the freezer and take out another one. When you no longer need an ice pack...you may not want to eat the peas....but birds will love them!

First time to blog from ny phone. Internet down. We hope to go home today. Tom has an early check with the dentist....have a nice day!

The Waiting Room

I know we all do it....wait in the waiting rooms at doctor's offices. Not my favorite place to be, but I have decided that they are not all the same. This one is the oral surgeon where Tom was have his surgery yesterday. I actually spent a lot of time shopping while I was waiting for him to be finished. But, it took a lot longer than they estimated...which brings us to the magazines...

Some offices have very few magazines, if any....and some only seem to have golf and sporting magazines. I am happy to report that this one had such a nice selection.....I read most of them. The three dental  implants were to take a little over three hours...that tuned into five!

He is doing okay...but is in a bit of pain. I need to take him something soft to eat...Poor Tom.

The Going Away Party

We are in Houston for my Tom to have some scheduled dental surgery. When my friends heard we were coming. They sent out invitations so that they could give me a proper going away party.

 

I was surprised at the number of friends that turned out! I will miss these gals dearly and am not sure how I can ever replace them.

What is that saying? Make new friends, but keep the old., one is silver, the other gold.

Buffalo

Maybe I should call this blog..The Rest Stop Review. That's right...we are on the road again. Why the Buffalo sculpture? Well, we are at a rest stop on our way to Houston...and we are just north of the central Texas town of Buffalo ....where Buffalo ran in large herds  in the mid 1800's.

There was a peaceful little pond between the building and the highway...making a very nice buffer.

My favorite thing was the plaque identifying trees and plants that you might see along the highway. It's been a nice drive. Not too many folks on the road on this early Easter morning. Oh the lower right corner of the plaque has a picture of our state flower..the bluebonnet, and they are in bloom. I will try and get a picture of some on the trip back to Ft. Worth.
