Out With The Old

As many of you know, we haven't lived in our new town of Fort Worth, Texas that long....so we are still getting to know the town, and our own neighborhood.. One way we do that is to walk. We have discovered that you see a lot more that way.
Case in point, this sweet little old house in the neighborhood, a neighborhood that has become very desirable. Little old homes like this are being replaced with much larger modern homes. This one looks like no one has lived there for awhile. I was trying to figure out it's age. Not knowing a lot about architecture, I would guess the 1930"s or 40's? What do you think? I also thought it strange that there isn't a window on both sides of the front door? I left a part of the old dead tree in the frame. I wonder if the new home owners, back then, planted this tree? Should this place be saved? Well, it is probably eaten up with termites and bringing it up to date would cost a small fortune,
besides I think it's days are numbered by the equipment sitting on the side yard.
I will keep you up to date as to what is happening on this lot.
I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend, and are in no danger of being replaced by something new and modern :) Janey

  1. Would be bad to demolish this beutiful house. But times are changing and so do peoples wishes...

  2. I am back again after a self-imposed hiatus from blogging, a failed attempt! Missed all of you too much to continue! Too bad the house has been neglected because, as you say, it certainly is a sweet little building.

  3. I just hate it, when old homes, churches, etc are forgotten and left for ruin. I'm sure someone can save this cute little thing. Do you have Chip and Joanna Gaines' number?

    1. Laurie, we are just up the road from Waco...but don't think Chip and Joanna are redoing homes here. Good idea though.I am afraid it is a little late for this little beauty.

  4. sounds like the "m" streets area of dallas. all the quaint old cottages and sweet homes were torn down and replaced with mcmansions. yuck.

  5. It could date from the 40s.

My area has a lot of century houses. The new boxy sort of infill housing ends up clashing horribly with the rest of the neighbourhood.

  6. It looks like a little starter home, doesn't it? (Or a retirement cottage.) This is what's happening in Denver, too. Old homes are bought as "scrapers" in desirable areas and multimillion dollar homes are built.

  7. It really is nice to get out and walk around your neighborhood. Hope you're enjoying the Indian summer weather! Hugs!

  8. It's a little bit sad Janey because it does look quite sweet. I see it has a verandah around the side. You're probably right about the termites unfortunately. I would be so happy if when you come back it'll be all painted white and looking renovated and gorgeous 😊😊
