My husband hikes every Thursday with an hiking club, so I decided to join them. Mainly because our wild flowers, here in the mountains, are in full bloom. First we 4wheeled up through a dense Aspen Forest.
Hang on, we are almost there. I know it is a bumpy road.
Finally, we are at the Trailhead. No, I do not know why it is called this. You will notice a lot of dead Spruce trees. The Spruce Beetle has made it's way through Colorado killing millions of trees. It couldn't be stopped...and happens every so many hundred years.
There are fourteen on today's hike. I am hiding back behind the sign.
First we must cross a stream. I can not balance too well. So I scooted across...Thankfully there is no picture of that....or that I am aware of.
And then the beauty began. Tons of wildflowers, streams and waterfalls.
I could have used a bridge that the beginning!
Our state of Colorado flower. The Columbine
Just follow the yellow brook road.
My trail buddy...known to many as Tom
It is over two mile UP, but the trail is easy to follow.
The scenery will keep you going
At times the flowers almost over took the trail
Moss covered boulders over head.
and more streams to cross. Tom helping Kit over.
We are almost there.
Me I am lagging behind taking pictures
Finally, the top! We are not all pictured, but 10 of the fourteen made it to the top.Yes, I was one of them thank you. That is me sprawled out on the rock. We have many many more trails up here...if you feel like another hike!
what a glorious hike! Thanks for sharing!
