Some folks find it amazing that a small town with less than 400 full time resident has a movie theater,
but we do. It has been open since 1975 and runs first run movies Friday through Sunday and then classic movies (old ones) on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Last night they showed my husbands all time favorite Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory which was filmed in 1971.
It starred the much loved American actor Gene Wilder (1933-2016). He of course was the chief candy maker and factory owner,

We have seen this movie countless times as we actually have a copy of it...but you should have seen my husbands face. He was smiling from ear to ear while watching it. I even had to nudge him a couple of times as he was humming along (a little too loudly) with the songs.
Tell me do you have an all time favorite movie that you could watch countless times?
Absolutely: Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago. As I am sorting books I found a copy of DZ and can't wait to reread it. What fun to notice the pleasure your husband takes in a familiar movie.
ReplyDeleteI have seen "Out of Africa" many times and I can dream the first sentence by Meryl Streep "I had a farm in Africa"....
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful that you have a theatre in your 400 population community Janey and I'm guessing that it must be well attended or it wouldn't be viable to keep it open. I can't remember how many times I've seen 'Gone with the Wind' 😀 and a more up to date favourite is 'Midnight in Paris'.
