Trash To Treasure

Well, it is the morning after, and quiet around here ...as everyone is still sleeping. Our family (including my four sisters and their kids), all get together for a Christmas night dinner.. Last Christmas it was here, but this time it was at my sister Nancy's
Instead of exchanging gifts ....We had an auction table. Each person was to go to a charity, or resale shop and purchase something under ten dollars. These things were then displayed on table at the party, and  you bid on the item or items you wanted. All of the money collected went to one worthy organization, which we voted on. Our little Christmas party raised $500 for the Alzheimer's Assoc.

These were one of the things we bid on, and won. I lived in The Netherlands...long ago, and from the mark on the bottom, they are authentic Delft.

  1. Looks like you did not do "joke gifts;" you scored quite well and the charity you chose is so very important. More research is needed.

  2. Best idea I've heard yet as an alternative Christmas present giving.

  3. What a fun tradition. And it helps a charity, to boot. I would say you scored on your bid. Your cups are pretty.

    1. Thanks Laurie,

I guess I forgot to say they are salt and pepper shakers.

  4. Dearest Janey,
What a very noble thought to auction things off like that! It's about giving LOVE and this goes a long way for a good cause like your selected.
Hugs to you and yours for the last Sunday of 2015.
