I do believe that is a bear walking between the cabin and our bench!
It headed up the mountain to the east (that is our deck post)
Then it decided to come back down and sit under a tree just to the west of the cabin. It was a small bear, probably about two years. That is when the mother bear abandons the cub so that she can breed again. The young things seem a bit lost at first. As tempting as it is to feed them...we don't . Not only is it against the law, but if you feed them they hang around grow up and break into your house...eventually having to be put down by the game warden.
It is adorable, but you certainly don't want it hanging around especially as it gets bigger.
ReplyDeleteQuite an animal!
ReplyDeleteI would rather take photos....like you! But from a distance! We have black bears here too and see their tracks sometimes when we hike. EEEEE!!!!
ReplyDeleteDearest Janey,
ReplyDeleteJust indulge in its sight for the time being but let nature run its course indeed. They are not pets and we ought not to interfere.
Great photos!
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh that makes me sad Janey.. abandoned at two, no wonder it looks a bit lost, it's looking for mum ✨
ReplyDeleteThat is special, I see them only in a zoo, you have them around in te wild! He looks a bit alone indeed.
ReplyDeleteWe had a bear trying to break into our garage a few years ago. We think it smelled the cantaloupe rinds in the garbage. The rangers said if it had been successful it would have kept returning. Unfortunately, the garage door needed major repair. Your bear looks very healthy.
