The Back Yard

We have moved to a new city in north Texas ...and we live IN the city, three miles from the city center. We are walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries and art museums..which is contrast to  our life in suburbia, in south Texas. We miss our old friends, but are still excited about our new town.
This was the back yard that we had for twenty seven years..

So, looking out at our new back yard. Yes, I'll admit  it has  taken a little getting use to.

To remedy a bit of the bleakness. That, by the way, is a very gray  wall. We are having an  evergreen vine installed. Men were here all day yesterday installing those little wires in a diamond pattern.

In hopes that it will eventually look a lot like this. Not quite the view we had...but a lot more pleasing than just a brick wall....I hope. Yes, the yard crew will keep it trimmed. Still trying our best to... make this place our home :) Janey

* a small pattern of the same vine will grow on a half wall out front, as mentioned in a previous blog.

  1. The vine is going to make a lovely feature in your garden and it will be interesting to watch its development.

  2. Oh, that looks much better than a grey wall. I can imagine you miss your former view but sometimes you have to make decissions. The things you mentione are also worth to live in this new place, but it takes time to feel at home.

  3. Of course you miss that beautiful backyard but there certainly are trade-offs. Sounds like you are in a very good location.

  4. Your old backyard looks gorgeous, but you do have a great plan for your new one. The vines should look very nice!

  6. It won't take too long for the vines to cover that wall and what a difference it will make.

  7. Dearest Janey,
Wow, that is quite an adjustment to different living conditions.
With patience I guess that evergreen vine will work fine. Smart idea to do it that way and it brightens the dreary look tremendously.
    Hugs,

  8. Sounds like a brilliant location Janey and just think of all the time saved by not having a pool and garden to look after.. I'm seriously tempted myself sometimes :)
