Cooler Weather

The first part of Spring we had unusually cool temperatures in north Texas. Although May switched gears and it’s been unusually hot. Several days reaching over 100 degrees. So this weekend we welcomed much cooler temps!

We decided to switch things up, and take our morning walk in my sister Polly’s neighborhood which is only about a 10 min. drive. The neighborhood was built in the 1920’s and has darling brick cottages and large trees. Some streets the trees actually meet over top of the street. Notice the old street lights.

Every yard seemed to have something blooming,

which made for a very nice walk.

These tall Crepe Myrtles will bloom all summer. Do you take a morning walk?

  1. Dearest Janey,
What a lovely neighborhood Polly lives in; love that canopy of trees covering the street and those lanterns make it so charming!
No, already since some 5 years Pieter got advised to not put any weight or pressure on his knee. The cartilage got completely worn and he ought to bike instead for moving the fluids out of the knee and avoiding further damage.
It has worked very well for him and I tag along.
Today we biked 20 miles and just got back home in time before heavy rain. When we left it said on our iPhone rain by 22:00 but one hour later when we had our break, it said 17:00 so I altered our route for not riding into the bad weather. Proved to be perfect and we were safe.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

This morning I was part of our choir with the orchestra performing a very patriotic service. Pieter came and enjoyed it so much. Had to practice together with the orchestra at 9:00 and then a break and Service at 11:00. We admire musicians that travel from Atlanta to be here on Wednesday evening (once!) for practice and early Sunday morning.
    Felt good and full Church.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  2. I try to take a morning walk but don't always get it done. These photos are gorgeous. The trees are simply beautiful.

  3. Polly's area appears to be very nice indeed - it is far greener and with many more trees than I would have imagined for Texas.

  5. I do try and exercise everyday either walking, swimming or table tennis. I don't go on a guilt trip though if I decide not to do anything. The walk you did looks interesting. I do like the canopy of trees.
