Baby Lizard

Hello from hot Texas. We are in the grips on one of the hottest summers on record, so we spend a lot of time indoors in the air conditioning.

I went out early this morning to water my hibiscus. We have two in large pots by our front door and there he was, a tiny little Green Anole Lizard.

Anole Lizards don’t get that large, maybe 6 ins. tops (like the adult one pictured above) but they can change the color of their skin from green to brown to blend in with their environment.

The adults, mainly male have the pinkish throat pouch or fan called it’s dewlap that they blow up when frightened or when trying to attract a mate. We are happy to have the about as they don't eat our plants but do eat pesky insects.

  1. Hope you survive the heat! We have a nice summer so far, with pretty temperatures, not too hot and not to cold!

  2. Dearest Janey,
That is a cute green anole on your hibiscus.
We certainly have cooled down since the tropical downpour yesterday and again today.
Our bridges over the creek got their first attacks and one has a broken pole, the first one... That force of the roaring water is incredible and we found tree trunks and lots of tree debris that hit up against all 3 But life goes on and today feels very cool and the rains have stopped. Even though tomorrow again rain and thunder and the entire week...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  3. It took me a while to find that tiny lizard on your photo. We are just entering a heat wave here with temperatures going into the 30s probably not as hot as it is in Texas but we don't have the benefit of AC in our homes!

  4. That is a very pretty little lizard Janey - lovely shades of pink, green and beautiful blue eyes too.
It is very hot here as well, far too hot for me.

  5. What a cute little guy! We don't have any quite as colorful as these. Speaking of HOT....It's like a furnace here.
