It is really more of a nature preserve. They tell me that back one hundred years ago there was a lot more water in this lake. The trail foundation has built a walking trail almost all the way around it.
At the west end it is sort of hard to see through the foliage.
Someone has put up a cute birdhouse, and it looked like there was a nest inside
In addition to the nice path, there are several little bridges over low areas.
Some sort of red berries blooming
Benches here and there to gaze out over the wetlands. I can't believe I am the only one on the trail.
directional signs
Some ragged cliffs on the east side
and a bit of water out there too. I tried to zoom in on these ducks.
Common Mullein growing tall along the path
which gets steep in places.
Thistles adding a bit of color
and view to the south toward downtown. One of our son in laws likes to watch birds and comes here early in the morning when he is visiting. If you are ever in our little town of Lake City, CO. Take a stroll around Pete's Lake, you won't be disappointed.
What a super walk Janey, that's the thing I miss the most about city living, although we do have some brilliant hikes a little out in the country try and I do enjoy it when we get time.
