We made a quick trip back to Texas last week, but we have returned to the mountains and we will be here until mid September.
On our return trip we decided to stay in the old Eklund Hotel in the small northwest town of Clayton, , New Mexico
I really like to stay in old hotels, and this one is supposed to have a ghost. I don’t really believe in ghosts, but the idea is a bit intriguing.
I just took a few pictures to share with you the interior of the hotel. This is the front desk.
The lobby
The staircase..thankfully there was also and elevator.
The hallway on the second floor.
Our small but comfortable room.
There is also a free breakfast. Sorry to say we did not have an encounter with the hotel ghost.
The next morning we decided to get off of the beaten road ….more to follow.
Dearest Janey,
ReplyDeleteGuess you are still being a little bit 'haunted' by your stay at this Eklund hotel; not Elkins...
The lobby and all other photos show that it was a very nice hotel!

Mariette
Thank you. Auto correct plays havoc with me at times…
DeleteAs it does with me too! 🤗
DeleteI love places like this too! And it's SO much more fun to drive the backroads and see rural America!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a really a cool place to stay!! Can't wait to hear more of your adventures when you go off the beaten track. We always like to do exploring!

A lovely place. Our most prominent hotel has several ghosts, including a man who went down with the Titanic.
ReplyDeleteIt looks good with all the carpets!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE staying in old, historic hotels. This one looks great. Your photos make it very inviting. The last one I stayed in was in Williams Arizona where the bathroom had a claw-foot tub!
