Monday through Friday, I walk early in the morning with one of my sisters. We are building new home, and in the meantime we are leasing the top part of an old home, only one block from my oldest sister. I love walking in this neighborhood, which was in it's prime in the 1920's through the 1940's. The majority of the homes have been restored. Then you come across one that hasn't been.
Looking at this fence, you just know that at one time it was new and cared for, with a flower bed running it's length. These beautiful Irises still spring forth , perhaps a testament to happier times.

HI Janey Love the fence and the Iris are very pretty
ReplyDeleteThat fence is the perfect backdrop for those gorgeous flowers.
ReplyDeleteThose irises just wouldn't look as good against a pristene fence.
ReplyDeleteI like this old fence and the irises!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new home! I love the fence shot with the pretty irises.. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteAwww...it's a lovely white solid fence. It has strength and purpose.
ReplyDeleteIt's always sad when homes fall into disrepair but those Iris do make for a lovely bright spot of color.
ReplyDeleteNature is persistent, whether it is weathering old fences or striving to emerge as are the irises.
ReplyDeleteI adore American home architecture Janey - you must do a post and show some of these restored old homes. Please do!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
