A Fence

Monday through Friday, I walk early in the morning with one of my sisters. We are building new home, and in the meantime we are leasing the top part of an old home, only one block from my oldest sister. I love walking in this neighborhood, which was in it's prime in the 1920's through the 1940's. The majority of the homes have been restored. Then you come across one that hasn't been.
Looking at this fence, you just know that at one time it was new and cared for, with a flower bed running it's length. These beautiful Irises still spring forth , perhaps a testament to happier times.

  8. It's always sad when homes fall into disrepair but those Iris do make for a lovely bright spot of color.

  9. Nature is persistent, whether it is weathering old fences or striving to emerge as are the irises.

  10. I adore American home architecture Janey - you must do a post and show some of these restored old homes. Please do!
