The older I get the less I like all of the commercialism attached to the holidays, especially Christmas. There seems to also be more and more pressure these days to jump into Christmas while you still have Thanksgiving left overs in the fridge...but that is where I have been. Getting out the Christmas decorations.
I must admit I do get nostalgic over some of the decorations that we have had for years. Especially our Santa's.
We have three of these 24inch (60.96cm) tall jolly old gentlemen, each one slightly different.
This rather woodsy looking one would probably be right at home in our log house in Colorado.
I have also been busy Christmas shopping and baking....but as the saying goes, I am probably preaching to the choir. If you don't have this, or a similar says in your country... I will happily explain.
I promise to return...but I am not promising when....Janey
These Santas have character.
ReplyDeleteYour Santas are beautiful! Enjoy your holiday festivities! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteWhat a Santa Collection. I got the table in my living room clean off. So now I can put out my snow man collection.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
Is it really December tomorrow - I am definitely paring down my Christmas decorations this year as I have no tiny grandchildren anymore.
ReplyDeleteHi Janey! I positively love your gorgeous Santas. Thanks for the inspiration - I need to get my rear end down to the basement to start bringing up the decorations. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI see you are very busy indeed, always nice to unpack the old stuff after a year again. Everything looks new again or you get a bit nostalgic...
ReplyDeleteThe trio of Santas are wonderful Janey.. I'm holding off for at least another week before the decorations go up.. now that there aren't any children living at home I can get away with it 😀😀
ReplyDeleteLove the Santas, Janey. I have a collection, but mine are not as big as yours. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteDearest Janey,
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm with you on this subject, with age I turn more and more away from the commercial Christmas.
But back in The Netherlands I did love the Sinterklaas, Santa Claus on December 5th, with rhymes written with the gifts. That was fun family time!
Hugs,
Mariette
I've read backward to this post, Janie, to see what's happening in TX. Looks as though you're in a festive mood! It's frigid (finally) in CO, and we're getting snow, but still we have much less on the ground than usual. Enjoy the holidays!
