Home Tour

Well, it wasn’t really a home tour, but another estate sale where every item in the house was for sale. I like going just to see the house…in this case it wasn’t just a house but a mansion.

Driving up it didn’t look as large as it was. Supposedly 11,000 square feet.

Inside the entry to the right was the formal dining room. I captured a few shoppers in these pics.

Behind the kitchen there was a butler's pantry which was complete with all of the appliance that were also in the adjoining kitchen..

The opening on the back wall of the kitchen is where that butler's pantry is. There were pull downs if you wanted to hide the area.

Beyond the kitchen in the other direction was
the breakfast room overlooking the swimming pool.

This although it looks like the kitchen was the bar in the family room.

Down the hall was a study that took on a whole new look with lots of beautiful wood and a coffered ceilings.

This was the only bedroom on the main floor. It had a large adjoining bath so it could have been the primary bedroom, but we discovered it upstairs.

I forgot to show you this is just some of the silver displayed in the breakfast room. Interesting  the younger generation in the U.S.as a whole are not interested in such formal items. The silver plated tray I have an arrow pointing to was only $8.00.

The landing upstairs

I won’t bore you with photos of the whole house. My sister Polly and I did tour every room, and she took these pics with her cell since I didn’t have mine.

The closet in the primary bedroom was so large that it had a hallway within it. Have you ever seen so many drawers?!
Back downstairs we toured the formal living area the the left of the front door. Again difficult to photograph without shoppers.

Notice the frescoes painted on the living room walls.
At one end of the room this gentleman had found a nice place to wait…or was he the owner…who knows!

  1. It seems kind of sad to see so many treasures out for sale and at low prices. But family members already have houses full of their own treasures and probably no one has a house THIS BIG! How interesting!

  4. Wow, that is one amazing house. 11,000 square feet is a lot house to heat and cool and clean. In fact, I bet it takes a crew to do the cleaning.
