Where do I begin? We have had a very busy and fun fourth!
Two of our daughters, and their families, arrived here in the mountains, for five fun fill days.I had lots of grandma time with Hannah from Texas, and Abigail from North Carolina, while their parents hiked, and enjoyed the mountains.
.
Our little town was buzzing with activities
We try not to miss our talented choir singing patriotic songs in our very old armory...
and of course on the 4th there is an old fashioned parade.
The excitement builds as the flags lead the way.
One after another of the usual patriotic floats, and thrown in for fun....a corny one or two,
like this
followed by this!
and families like ours, dressed all alike
Even this little lady was interested, actually I think the parade was blocking her path.
Then it's all day games in the park
My Tom of course feeding the crowds
The party then moves to our house on the hill, where brats are cooking on the family grill
With great anticipation of what was to follow.
Time to bundle up, for the fireworks from yonder hill
Then out came the awning, and snuggle a little closer, to keep dry in the rain. Hoping against hope that the
show would go on!
Thanks Betty for the beautiful cake!

Quite a way to mark the holiday! The first shot in particular is priceless.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great 4th for you, Janie. I love small town celebrations. Your granddaughters in their matching dresses look so sweet! Actually that cake looks pretty sweet, too!
ReplyDeleteWe are just enjoying having our 19 year old grandson staying and thinking of interesting places to take him.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely to see your two little granddaughters enjoying each other - grandma time is very special
That was quite a celebration you had, wonderful pictures to watch. I see you had your granddaughters dressed in your outfits, very cute. You have a great community overthere to live and celebrate with.
ReplyDeleteSo much to see and do. No wonder the family gather at your home to celebrate. Enjoy the rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteDearest Janey,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely family time around such a very special celebration as our nation's 239th Birthday!
We too had heavy thunderstorms with rain mid afternoon.
Hugs,
Mariette
The family photo is fantastic! Nothing better than a small town 4th of July!
