I Did It!

I am so happy that I conquered my fear, and rode to the top of the mountain for the wedding.
Passing this sign, I had my doubts, but my Tom is a very cautious driver and promised not to scare me.
Although my heart was pounding a couple of times.
After about six blind it not so scary anymore
Tom did stop, when I spotted something I wanted a picture of
Which was quite often.

It is difficult to capture the beauty of this place.
Did I mention that in addition to the blind curves, and steep drop offs with no guard rails, there or at least three water crossings.

After over an hour of climbing up, and stopping for a occasional photo, we were greeted by this. A rain storm had moved in, and you couldn't even see the mountain. Oh no! Well, we all sat in our vehicles for about half an hour...and then this happened.
The skies began to clear
and with our friends, who are Allie's parents, looking on,
Alli and Jake accompanied by her sister, and his brother.... became Mr. and Mrs. on top of the world.

  1. What a beautiful place for two to become one!

  2. Dearest Janey,
Wow, this ride into the mountains for you all, did bring back some vivid memories of the times that we rode with our driver up the 7,000 ft high mountains of Central Java to work. There were no guard rails and sometimes a mud slide had caused a big hole in the road. I will never forget, wish I had my iPhone then, that our driver actually drover over two planks they laid over the hole... We didn't even dare to breath! I know that for sure our Guardian Angels do exist and ours worked overtime!!!
Lovely wedding spot, but what a huge difference due to the weather having cleared up. So happy it all worked out well. Yes, on top of the world...

  3. You really do need a 4 wheel drive to negotiate that road. We have a road similar in the Lake District, you suddenly come round a corner on a brow and the road completely falls out of sight - it is scary.
Perfect sylvan spot to take your marriage vows - may they have lots of happy years together.

  4. Oh Janey, what a hell of a ride, glad you made it and survived aswell. What a place to remember to get married up there!

  5. My heart is pounding just looking at this road Janey but oh my what a spectacularly unique wedding venue, hope we get to see a few of the wedding photos... please :)

  6. I don't know if this link will work for you, but try it; it's a hoot!

  7. What a magnificent place for a wedding!

  8. Oh my God. Unbelievable driving adventure and the landscape...
So beautiful!!! I fully agree with William that's a perfect and unforgettable place for wedding. Congratulations for pair :)

  9. I love your photos, Janie. Isn't it just like CO - storming one minute and clear the next? What a great backdrop for a wedding.
