A Local #2

One mistake we made when we built our house twelve years ago, was not putting in synthetic decking. My Tom insisted on redwood. Well, it takes a lot of maintenance. We are so close to the sun at 9,000 ft that the surface takes a beating, and therefore must be re-stained once a year. Meet Bruce (and don't judge a book by it's cover),who is in our eyes the very best painter in this valley.
We call Bruce before we even head this way. He will book up for the entire summer. I guess he wouldn't be called a local, as he too escapes here in the winter. He and his wife, who is Mexican, live north of Puerto Vallarta in a beach resort of Mexican Rivera, in the winter. They have a darling seven year old son who is of course bilingual. Thank you Bruce for putting us at the top of your long list! Now, we are in search of the (one and only) illusive window washer.

  1. You are fortunate to have a reliable and gifted craftsman to help with the deck.

I had to giggle at your "we're so close to the sun"....:)
Enjoy your time in the mountains.

  5. A good portrait shot!

There are many snowbirds up here who bolt right after Canadian Thanksgiving and aren't seen again until at least the middle of April.

  6. There is nothing like having a good handyman - we have a wonderful plumber/heating expert who comes at the drop of a hat.
