The Grocery Store

Before you guys feel too sorry for me. I wanted to let you know that we do have two small grocery stores in our little town. We just don't have a large supermarket.
This is my favorite

They have a few...clean well stocked aisles. The prices are fairly high, because it is not cheap for them to pay suppliers to truck stuff up here.
They don't sell fresh meat (the other small store does), but they do have rotisserie chickens, that they cook themselves (delish) . In the back, there is  a small deli counter, where you can order a gourmet sandwich..Several types of breads and cookies are also baked here daily.
This is the produce section...always fresh and inviting.

Some folks say you should check your bottom line, with the gas to the supermarket added in. We do have all sorts of other errands while in Gunnison, like the hardware store, beauty shop, etc.etc.or maybe we have just gotten into the habit of going there?

Oh, I forgot to introduce you to Peter. He and his wife quit their corporate jobs in Austin, Tex....to move here, and have a simpler life. They are open from 8am to 8pm daily. I told Peter to smile, and look like he was happy. He replied that he was, but he was tired. It was very near closing time.
We do try to shop locally, as much as we can...It is important to us to keep these places open.

  1. From the outside you wouldn't think it is so big.

  5. It's important to us, also. We always go out of our way to shop small businesses. The little store looks so cute. I hope they do well.

  8. So nice to support the locals, they have hard times I think to stand up against all the big companies.

  9. Very smart of you to give Peter your business and it certainly looks like there is enough there to sustain life!

  10. It reminds me of the small country store in the nearby hamlet where my parents lived for some years. You could get the essentials there, but otherwise you'd drive the half hour into the nearest town.
